3 Timeline: Boston Tea Party

For our Little Ones:

The Boston Tea Party was lead by Samuel Adams and his group, the Sons of Liberty.  In the middle of the night, Sam Adam’s group dressed like Mohawk Indians and boarded British ships carrying tea.  They dumped the tea on the ships into the Boston Harbor, swept the decks clean, and quietly rowed off into the night.  Many Colonists felt that they should be fully represented in ParliamentKing George II had paid for the French and Indian war and wanted the Colonists to pay some of the expenses for this war.  The Colonists had basically taxed and governed themselves for over 100 years and felt insulted that they were being given more taxes.
